A former middle school teacher in North Carolina accused of having a sexual relationship with her foster child is facing new charges after allegedly reaching out to the boy again on social media, sheriff officials said.
Christina Davis Jolly, 43, of Statesville, was arrested Thursday after violating pretrial release conditions in connection with the five counts of statutory rape of a child she faces following her arrest in August, the Statesville Record & Landmark reports.
Jolly — who formerly taught at North Iredell Middle School in Olin, about 50 miles north of Charlotte — agreed to give up custody of the 15-year-old boy after their alleged sexual relationship, which authorities say began in 2017, was reported to child welfare officials.
The teen, who was not a student of Jolly’s at the middle school, was later interviewed by investigators at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center, according to the newspaper.
Jolly was ordered by a judge to not contact the teen, who previously lived with her in Statesville. But she allegedly defied that mandate and continued contacting the teen on social media, leading to a search of her home and the seizure of her computers, deputies from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office told the newspaper.
Jolly was taken into custody at the Iredell County Detention Center and was released after posting bond, jail records show.
School district officials said Jolly was placed on leave following her initial arrest and was later suspended with pay, the Statesville Record & Landmark reports. A spokesperson for Iredell-Statesville Schools told The Post in an email early Wednesday that she was ultimately fired by the district on Aug. 21, roughly a week after her arrest.
Jolly, who was hired by the district in 2002, also taught students at Troutman Elementary School and Troutman Middle School, according to the newspaper.
An investigation into the alleged sexual contact between Jolly and the teen remains ongoing, sheriff’s officials said.
