My knowledge of current and past political issues, public policies, and communications is vast, and comprises a multitude of viewpoints and experiences.

With a solid mathematical background, I entered the world of politics making use of statistics jointly with theories and techniques for measuring public opinion as research tools. Over the past 25 years I have studied the Venezuelan political culture as compared to other countries of Latin America and the world. I actively participated in the development of two studies that are part of the World Values Survey database, a study led by Ronald Inglehart in Michigan, USA. That research of global character allowed me to go into a broader understanding of the impact of values on modern political vision, while it allowed me to take a comprehensive view of the determinants that explain the behavior of countries in terms of their pursuit of development. Thanks to my findings in political culture I could continue researching political and electoral systems and voting behavior.

I have also evaluated public policies from the performance point of view through the collection of data and its statistical processing. Recently, I worked with the Center for Political Studies at the Catholic University Andres Bello in developing a model that explains how a specific government could achieve adequate levels of governance. Also, I taught the course “Governance Policy and Strategic Management” for Graduate Governance program of UCAB and The George Washington University.

During my tenure as a professor at the Universidad Simón Bolívar I held significant positions as Director of Admission and Control Studies, Director of Planning and Director of USB University Litoral Campus. I won the last position participating in a very competitive call. Director was the highest office of academic and administrative direction of the Campus located in Vargas State. Also, I was part of the commissions that developed and implemented curricula for the Doctorate in Political Science, Specialization in Public Opinion and Political Communication and Production Engineering. As tenured professor of Simon Bolivar University I have trained numerous Ph.D. students, now employed in academia and handled a number of successful tenure cases as Director of USB University Litoral Campus. In 2001 I was candidate for Rector of the Universidad Simón Bolívar.

During my practice, I have served as a political consultant for multinational companies operating in Venezuela. I have also been political consultant for candidates running for various positions in the same country. In 2006 I served as head of the presidential campaign of the opposition candidate for the presidency of the republic. Recently I was part of the advisory group of Henrique Capriles´ campaign for the presidential elections of 2012 and 2013.

My familiarity and understanding of the Venezuelan political situation makes me frequently consulted by media from different countries.
